Wavy ("we", "us", "the App") has zero tolerance for child sexual abuse, exploitation, or any content that endangers minors. This page sets out our standards, prevention measures, reporting mechanisms, and points of contact in compliance with Google Play's Child Safety Standards Policy and applicable laws worldwide.
1.Our standards against CSAE
Wavy maintains a published standard prohibiting child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE) across every part of the service. This standard applies to all users, content, and conduct on the App, and is enforced through a combination of technology, human moderation, and cooperation with law enforcement. We do not tolerate — and will never knowingly host, facilitate, or ignore — CSAE or child sexual abuse material (CSAM) in any form.
2.Age requirement
Wavy is strictly an 18+ dating application. Users must confirm they are 18 years of age or older to create an account, and we collect a date of birth at signup to enforce this. Use of the App by anyone under 18 is prohibited and is grounds for immediate, permanent account termination. Where an account is found to belong to a minor, we remove it, preserve relevant evidence as required by law, and report to the relevant authorities.
3.Prohibited content and conduct (CSAE / CSAM)
We strictly prohibit, and will act against, any of the following on Wavy:
- Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM) of any kind — including real, animated, AI-generated, or otherwise computer-generated imagery.
- Sexualisation of minors in profile photos, messages, bios, prompts, or any other surface in the App.
- Grooming, solicitation, or attempts to contact, meet, or sexually exploit a minor.
- Impersonation of a minor, or the use of photos depicting minors.
- Sexual extortion ("sextortion"), or threats to share intimate imagery of a minor.
- Trafficking, advertising, or otherwise facilitating the exploitation of minors.
- Sharing of links, files, usernames, or third-party identifiers that lead to CSAM.
Violations result in immediate permanent ban, preservation of evidence, and reporting to the appropriate authorities (see Section 7).
4.Prevention measures
- Mandatory phone-number verification (OTP) at signup.
- Mandatory date-of-birth attestation; accounts under 18 are blocked.
- Selfie verification badge to confirm profile authenticity.
- Automated and human moderation review of profile photos before they appear in public discovery.
- Keyword and pattern detection to surface grooming and solicitation language.
- Block and report tools available on every profile and chat surface.
- Bidirectional blocking removes a user from all matching, waves, and visibility immediately.
- Device and account signals to detect and prevent banned users from returning.
- Periodic audits of reports and re-review of flagged accounts.
5.Detection and moderation
We combine automated tooling with a trained human moderation team to detect known CSAM and suspected child-safety violations:
- Suspected CSAM is escalated immediately — the account is suspended and evidence is preserved.
- Human reviewers handle escalations with care, following clear internal protocols and wellbeing safeguards.
- We act on both proactive detection and user reports, and we re-review accounts that accumulate flags.
- We continually improve our detection systems as new threats, behaviours, and technologies emerge.
6.In-app reporting
Every Wavy user can report another user from an active chat with one tap. The report flow includes a dedicated "Underage" category for child safety concerns, alongside Harassment, Fake Profile, Inappropriate Content, Spam, and Other. Reports are routed to our moderation team and reviewed on a 24-hour SLA. Users are notified when action is taken on their report. Reporting is always free and never requires leaving the App — and you can also contact us directly (see Section 10).
7.Reporting to authorities
We comply with applicable child-protection laws in every market we operate in, including:
- United States: Reports of CSAM are filed with the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) via the CyberTipline as required under 18 U.S.C. § 2258A.
- India: Reports are filed under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012 (POCSO) and the Information Technology Act, 2000.
- European Union: Reports are filed with national hotlines and INHOPE members where applicable.
- Other jurisdictions: Reports are filed with the relevant national child protection authority.
Confirmed CSAM is preserved as required by law and made available to law enforcement under valid legal process.
8.If you encounter CSAE or CSAM
If you come across content that sexualises or endangers a minor, anywhere on Wavy:
- Do not engage with, share, download, or screenshot the content.
- Report it immediately using the in-app Report tool and select the "Underage" category.
- You can also email us directly at support@wavydating.com.
- If a child is in immediate danger, contact your local emergency services first, then report to the helplines below.
